Not Me Monday!! (They're BAAACCCCKKKK)

Not Me Monday is an idea started by MckMama and it's where we "admit" to our bad parenting deeds by saying we did NOT do it... So here goes mine....

I try as hard as I can to be a good mom. I have always wanted to be 3 things- a wife, a mom, and a teacher-- since I'm not teaching in a school I am hoping to be a GREAT mom so I would most certainly NEVER let Teagan pretzels and grapes for dinner. I know that's not all balanced and I would NEVER EVER let my own exhaustion get in the way of a practical dinner... nope... not me

Teagan started new meds a few weeks ago for his asthma and they've been making him act CRAZY and I did not put him in his room for a nap and then turn the monitor off and pretend like I couldn't hear him for an hour just so I could get a break.... nope I would NEVER ignore the fact that my son was tossing blocks all over his room singing songs at the top of his lungs...

I ALWAYS do our laundry and I NEVER let it pile up til we have nothing left to wear. And I never leave it clean in a laundry basket and say, "Dig- it's all clean" Everything is always promptly washed, dried, and put away.

There also was not a toy annoying me so bad last week that I decided to turn the batteries backwards and claim it was broken. I would never do that.. I have endless amounts of patience for loud toys...

What did you "not" do this week?

5 Years, 4 Addresses, 3 Apartments, 2 New Cars, and 1 Kiddo....

Today is our 5 year wedding anniversary!!!! And it's making me think of how those 5 years have gone.... We have had 4 addresses.... and 3 apartments..... (our first apartment flooded, then we lived with Jamie's parents for 2 months, then a one bedroom apartment, and now our 2 bedroom with Teagan) We've bought 2 cars for me... (3 cars all together have been bought) and we have one kiddo....

I can honestly say that we are happy. Jamie is happy. Teagan is happy. I'm happy. We have everything we need and some of what we want.... We do a lot of fun things as a family and we each have time for ourselves.

Happy Anniversary Jamie!

I Blinked- And He's 3!

On June 16 Teagan turned 3 and I'm still not completely sure how in the world 3 years has gone by. I guess I blinked...

We had Teag's party at The Magic House this year and invited all of his little friends. He had such a great time and is still talking about his party and who came.

Our little family on the day of his party! It was a train themed party- His shirt says, "CHOO-CHOO! I'm 3!"

Mommy and Teagan decorating a train hat!

All the kids decorating whistles!

Each kid got a cupcake that they got to decorate themselves! Teagan wanted to eat the icing!

He was SOOOOOO happy to hear everyone singing happy birthday to him!

PRESENTS!!

More presents!

Teagan loves Angry Birds and he was so excited about getting a stuffed one!

Ready to go play!

Teagan and his Aunt Sue!

Carpe The Next Day....

I am sure that it must seem like I fell off the face of the planet! I guess that I kind of did.... We have had a very very busy past 3 months.... We had 3 graduations, 4 graduation parties, a few birthdays, Teagans 3rd birthday, and I was teaching summer school! Finally everything is slowing down and I have at least 2 weeks of a slow life-- but possibly 4 weeks-- waiting to see where some chips will fall.

Get ready-- because I'm about to make several new posts!

Time Is Moving.....

Teagan will be 3 in 24 days..... And man have those 3 years flown by! A friend of mine gave me this quote and its so true....

"Enjoy today because the days are long but the years are short"

We have decided to have Teagan's birthday party at The Magic House!!

Something To Think About...

Recently I have noticed that I am pretty open minded about many things. Maybe open minded is the wrong term but I guess we will see as we continue along this blog journey.

I have noticed recently that I have strong opinions on somethings but I don't feel a need to force my view down your throat, UNLESS of course, you are shoving your view down my throat in an extremely offensive way. Then I have this strange need to defend myself and my view, which is completely crazy, because what I chose to believe or do with my life, my family, and my kid is no ones business but MINE and I shouldn't have to answer to anyone for them.

Examples? I'm glad you asked! The most recent one was on getting vaccines for your child. I won't lie- I shudder when I find out people aren't doing it but I'd never tell you or insist that you should get your child vaccines- Mostly because its your child, your family, your kids health, your hospital bills if something goes wrong.... and vice versa-- my kid, my family, my kids health, and my hospital bill if something goes wrong!

But what I can't stand is when people start openly attacking people who DO vaccinate or people who DON'T- every site that you go to is CLEARLY biased one way or another- for every website that a d0-not-vaccinater (DNVer) finds-- a d0-vacinater (DVer) will find one countering it point by point- We are NOT going to find a website that is clearly fact based and in the long run- you have to decide whats best for your family and your kids-- everything has risks-- and its up to you which risks are the best ones to take...

Another issue that lately I've felt myself getting really heated over in a "I have to defend myself" way is education. Namely I have experienced many people who are saying they're making alternative choices (home school namely) because of how "horrid teachers are" (DIRECT QUOTE) Now I don't care where you educate your child- so long as you do- but is it really a nice thing to bash the career that I have based my life on? Is it really fair to say to me that you think I'm not capable to teach your children? Even if you do feel that way- aren't there nicer ways to say things?

So here is my opinion-- I think that we all need to be a little more open minded and get over this whole, "my way is the only right way to be"- There are many "right" choices- Whats right for me may not be right for you- but that doesn't make it wrong!

Sorry-- had to vent!

Out Of The Mouth Of Teagan....

There are days where I can feel my patience with Teagan growing thin and it is normally at this exact moment that he comes up with something that is so funny that I am biting my lip to hold back laughter.... SOOO to brighten your Tuesday (or whatever day you read this)..... here are some things straight out of the mouth of my kiddo....

Me: Whats the magic word?
Teagan: YES!!!
* I did insist he use manners before I gave him a snack and then I laughed....*

Teagan: Does Daddy have lots of friends?
Me: Yes
Teagan: Does Daddy have lots of friends at work?

Teagan: Happy Mothers Day Mommy.
Me: Thank you Teagan. I love you!
Teagan: I get you a prize Mommy. Look at my shirt! (it said "my mom rocks)
Me: I love it! Thank you for my prize.
Teagan: Now it my turn. Where my mother day prize Mommy?
Me: Only moms get a prize today.
Teagan: Oh. When it Teagan day?
Me: Every day except today and Fathers Day is Teagan day.
Teagan: Oh I get prize tomorrow

Teagan: My juice all gone.
Me: Ok- Go throw it away.
Teagan: *holds juice box up to his ear and shakes* It ok. There a tiny bit left Mommy.
