Not My Child!!

Mckmama- Not Me Monday

Not My Child is a variation on NOT ME MONDAY!! Only this time I get to tell you all of the things I try to keep secret about Teagan... So here we go....

Teagan does NOT have a new thing for money and putting it in to his bank and he for sure does NOT ask almost everyone we know if they have any "cash" for him. I mean really- what parent would allow that to happen?

Teagan also NEVER EVER thinks it would be a good idea to go to CostCo or Sams for samples. I mean I'm sure that I have NEVER EVER taken him there for lunch on Sundays. I mean seriously what parent would think multiple sample makes a good lunch?

Teagan does NOT EVER get cookies for breakfast. NEVER EVER.....

My child doesn't ever say, "DONT TOUCH THAT MOMMY" and when I say to use manners change it to, "MOMMY DONT TOUCH THAT PLEASE".

See- my child is perfect! (hahahahaha)

Not Me Monday!!!

Not Me Monday, as I have said before was started by a blogger who goes by McMama-- It's a great way to admit to things I would NEVER do!

I did NOT let Teagan have a chocolate chip pancake for lunch. I would never allow him to eat something so basically unhealthy. All of his meals are very balanced.

I also did NOT get out a pair of pants that are a touch too long so that I could go a few more days before doing the laundry. I am always right on top of thing like that.

I did NOT give Teagan a swiffer duster and then sit on the couch while he dusted.... I would never use my child for chore that should be my job.

Most important I have never EVER told my child a small lie such as, "The cooked carrots are magic and if you eat them you'll get magic powers." (to be fair cooked carrots are the only thing he doesn't eat.)

Not Me Monday

I am really glad that MckMama started Not Me Monday again because I was missing being able to admit to all of the things that I never ever do....

This past week has been really busy and I most certainly did not let my son eat fruit snacks for breakfast so that I could just sit and relax. I always make sure that his breakfast is super healthy and a great start to his day.

I also did not make sure that Teagans clean underwear was shoved far enough back in his drawer so that he can't reach it because I was tired of him wearing 3 pairs at a time. I mean seriously why would anyone care?

And we all know that I would NEVER allow my son to tell strangers at Target about how he peed in a cup at the doctor. I would never be grateful he was talking to someone else regardless of the topic so that I could shut off my brain for a few seconds. (and I of course would never then hope he tells someone else because the reaction is funny)

I also do not EVER turn off the monitor and just pretend Teagan is still asleep.. Nope not me! I spring out of bed at the first peep from him to start our day!

And last but not least.... I did not wait to do our laundry until nothing was clean. I take advantage of every free second to do something productive. I for sure did not spend the time I should have been doing laundry watching Dance Moms.... I'd never watch such horrid TV....

Not Me Monday!! (They're BAAACCCCKKKK)

Not Me Monday is an idea started by MckMama and it's where we "admit" to our bad parenting deeds by saying we did NOT do it... So here goes mine....

I try as hard as I can to be a good mom. I have always wanted to be 3 things- a wife, a mom, and a teacher-- since I'm not teaching in a school I am hoping to be a GREAT mom so I would most certainly NEVER let Teagan pretzels and grapes for dinner. I know that's not all balanced and I would NEVER EVER let my own exhaustion get in the way of a practical dinner... nope... not me

Teagan started new meds a few weeks ago for his asthma and they've been making him act CRAZY and I did not put him in his room for a nap and then turn the monitor off and pretend like I couldn't hear him for an hour just so I could get a break.... nope I would NEVER ignore the fact that my son was tossing blocks all over his room singing songs at the top of his lungs...

I ALWAYS do our laundry and I NEVER let it pile up til we have nothing left to wear. And I never leave it clean in a laundry basket and say, "Dig- it's all clean" Everything is always promptly washed, dried, and put away.

There also was not a toy annoying me so bad last week that I decided to turn the batteries backwards and claim it was broken. I would never do that.. I have endless amounts of patience for loud toys...

What did you "not" do this week?

5 Years, 4 Addresses, 3 Apartments, 2 New Cars, and 1 Kiddo....

Today is our 5 year wedding anniversary!!!! And it's making me think of how those 5 years have gone.... We have had 4 addresses.... and 3 apartments..... (our first apartment flooded, then we lived with Jamie's parents for 2 months, then a one bedroom apartment, and now our 2 bedroom with Teagan) We've bought 2 cars for me... (3 cars all together have been bought) and we have one kiddo....

I can honestly say that we are happy. Jamie is happy. Teagan is happy. I'm happy. We have everything we need and some of what we want.... We do a lot of fun things as a family and we each have time for ourselves.

Happy Anniversary Jamie!

I Blinked- And He's 3!

On June 16 Teagan turned 3 and I'm still not completely sure how in the world 3 years has gone by. I guess I blinked...

We had Teag's party at The Magic House this year and invited all of his little friends. He had such a great time and is still talking about his party and who came.

Our little family on the day of his party! It was a train themed party- His shirt says, "CHOO-CHOO! I'm 3!"

Mommy and Teagan decorating a train hat!

All the kids decorating whistles!

Each kid got a cupcake that they got to decorate themselves! Teagan wanted to eat the icing!

He was SOOOOOO happy to hear everyone singing happy birthday to him!

PRESENTS!!

More presents!

Teagan loves Angry Birds and he was so excited about getting a stuffed one!

Ready to go play!

Teagan and his Aunt Sue!

Carpe The Next Day....

I am sure that it must seem like I fell off the face of the planet! I guess that I kind of did.... We have had a very very busy past 3 months.... We had 3 graduations, 4 graduation parties, a few birthdays, Teagans 3rd birthday, and I was teaching summer school! Finally everything is slowing down and I have at least 2 weeks of a slow life-- but possibly 4 weeks-- waiting to see where some chips will fall.

Get ready-- because I'm about to make several new posts!

Time Is Moving.....

Teagan will be 3 in 24 days..... And man have those 3 years flown by! A friend of mine gave me this quote and its so true....

"Enjoy today because the days are long but the years are short"

We have decided to have Teagan's birthday party at The Magic House!!

Something To Think About...

Recently I have noticed that I am pretty open minded about many things. Maybe open minded is the wrong term but I guess we will see as we continue along this blog journey.

I have noticed recently that I have strong opinions on somethings but I don't feel a need to force my view down your throat, UNLESS of course, you are shoving your view down my throat in an extremely offensive way. Then I have this strange need to defend myself and my view, which is completely crazy, because what I chose to believe or do with my life, my family, and my kid is no ones business but MINE and I shouldn't have to answer to anyone for them.

Examples? I'm glad you asked! The most recent one was on getting vaccines for your child. I won't lie- I shudder when I find out people aren't doing it but I'd never tell you or insist that you should get your child vaccines- Mostly because its your child, your family, your kids health, your hospital bills if something goes wrong.... and vice versa-- my kid, my family, my kids health, and my hospital bill if something goes wrong!

But what I can't stand is when people start openly attacking people who DO vaccinate or people who DON'T- every site that you go to is CLEARLY biased one way or another- for every website that a d0-not-vaccinater (DNVer) finds-- a d0-vacinater (DVer) will find one countering it point by point- We are NOT going to find a website that is clearly fact based and in the long run- you have to decide whats best for your family and your kids-- everything has risks-- and its up to you which risks are the best ones to take...

Another issue that lately I've felt myself getting really heated over in a "I have to defend myself" way is education. Namely I have experienced many people who are saying they're making alternative choices (home school namely) because of how "horrid teachers are" (DIRECT QUOTE) Now I don't care where you educate your child- so long as you do- but is it really a nice thing to bash the career that I have based my life on? Is it really fair to say to me that you think I'm not capable to teach your children? Even if you do feel that way- aren't there nicer ways to say things?

So here is my opinion-- I think that we all need to be a little more open minded and get over this whole, "my way is the only right way to be"- There are many "right" choices- Whats right for me may not be right for you- but that doesn't make it wrong!

Sorry-- had to vent!

Out Of The Mouth Of Teagan....

There are days where I can feel my patience with Teagan growing thin and it is normally at this exact moment that he comes up with something that is so funny that I am biting my lip to hold back laughter.... SOOO to brighten your Tuesday (or whatever day you read this)..... here are some things straight out of the mouth of my kiddo....

Teagan: I want a snack Mommy.
Me: Whats the magic word?
Teagan: YES!!!
* I did insist he use manners before I gave him a snack and then I laughed....*

Teagan: Does Daddy have lots of friends?
Me: Yes
Teagan: Does Daddy have lots of friends at work?
Me: Yes
Teagan: They all my friends too Mommy.

Teagan: Mommy I a big boy. Are you a big girl?
Me: Yes.
Teagan: Noooooo. You just Mommy.

Teagan: Happy Mothers Day Mommy.
Me: Thank you Teagan. I love you!
Teagan: I get you a prize Mommy. Look at my shirt! (it said "my mom rocks)
Me: I love it! Thank you for my prize.
Teagan: Now it my turn. Where my mother day prize Mommy?
Me: Only moms get a prize today.
Teagan: Oh. When it Teagan day?
Me: Every day except today and Fathers Day is Teagan day.
Teagan: Oh I get prize tomorrow

Teagan: My juice all gone.
Me: Ok- Go throw it away.
Teagan: *holds juice box up to his ear and shakes* It ok. There a tiny bit left Mommy.

I hope you enjoy hearing the things he comes up with!

Where Oh Where Has My Blogging Time Gone??

I know I've been a bad bad blogger lately... I keep saying, "Oh I will blog more. I will blog more" but lets just be 100% honest.... I don't..... And don't worry- my life isn't so interesting that I don't have time to blog... its almost the opposite.. its so everyday that I don't take the time to update you on boring things...

But I guess its time to update all of you!

Teagan will be 3 in just a couple of week and he is currently-- extremely interested in pirates! In fact- we moved him to a toddler bed and its a pirate theme in his room now! He goes to be talking about pirates, he wakes up talking about pirates, we watch a pirate show during breakfast....

And if its not pirates then its trains or Toy Story-- I've started to realize that girls have cuter clothes but the boy toys are way better!!!

The Easter Bunny brought Teagan a whole bunch of Play-Doh-- so thats been a new thing at our house. And its an activity that I really enjoy because it involves Teagan sitting still!

Outside of all of that-- not a whole lot is going on-- here are a few pictures so you can see how big my little boy is getting...

I found this quote on a friends status the other day-- and it seems so perfect to describe my life lately...

"Enjoy this time to the fullest because the days are long but the years are short."

Lots To Share....

Things have been really crazy in the Allen household recently. Busy and crazy enough to make me feel like my head is spinning!

Teagan is having an allergic reaction to something and has a staph infection. We are treating it with oral and topical meds- so he should be good to go in a week or so. The meds don't seem to bother him that much other then the topical- which he says burns but as long as I blow on it to "cool it off" (his words) hes okay with it.

Once we have the staph infection gone we will move on to trying to figure out what is causing this reaction. It may include allergy testing or it may be a situation where we remove all of whatever we think is causing it from his diet/life to see if we can clear up the rashes/hives.

Teagan also had his final Parents As Teachers meeting- He is testing at a level higher then his age for speech! I am not at all surprised because he talks a LOT! We are going to watch how he says a few certain sounds but other then that hes ahead in all areas!!

AND.... NO MORE DIAPERS IN THIS HOUSE!!! In fact-- we are almost done with PullUps too! We use them for naps and sleeping only and they're dry and clean 90% of the time.

Now-- a few pics so that you can see what we have been up too!

Thats Funny Right There!!!

Why Having a Toddler is Like Being at a Frat Party

10. There are half-full, brightly-colored plastic cups on the floor in every room. Three are in the bathtub.
9. There’s always that one girl, bawling her eyes out in a corner.
8. It’s best not to assume that the person closest to you has any control over their digestive function.
7. You sneak off to the bathroom knowing that as soon as you sit down, someone’s going to start banging on the door.
6. Probably 80% of the stains on the furniture contain DNA.
5. You’ve got someone in your face at 3 a.m. looking for a drink.
4. There’s definitely going to be a fight.
3. You’re not sure whether anything you’re doing is right, you just hope it won’t get you arrested.
2. There are crumpled-up underpants everywhere.
1. You wake up wondering exactly how and when the person in bed with you got there.
I found this on the website http://www.shitmykidsruined.com/ And I'm sorry-- but party-goer or not-- this is funny!

Facebook Break

Well I did the "unthinkable"-- I deactivated my Facebook account.... I haven't decided how long I am going to be "gone" for, but I really feel like I needed to take a break from all of that connection and constant updating to what is going on in other peoples lives.

Silly? Possibly! But I feel good knowing that I'm going to have some time to breathe with out status updates crowding my brain!

Dreaming Of A Vacation....

I have been dreaming of going on a vacation lately... a DREAM vacation...

I want....

- to go to a place where I don't have to think about anyone or anything but me...
- to go to a place where they know what I want and just bring it to me.
-to go to a place where I don't have to make any choices.
- to go to a place where they will plan my day and make sure I get to the planned things on time.
- to go to a place that has nap time....
- to go to a place where I don't have to share my food!
- to go to a place where someone else worries about me.
- to go to a place where my happiness is their top priority.
- to go to a place that has a ball pit for adults.
- to go to a place that will come to my rescue if I'm sad and miss my family.
- to go to a place where the biggest worry is if my beach chair is being used by another well deserving vacationer.
- to go to a place that I don't have to wipe any ones butt, plan anyones doctor appts, make anyones lunch, or any of the other things like that...

Now-- who wants to open this place and who wants to go with me???

Let me say as a closing: I LOVE my family. I love being a mom, BUT I'm human and its a full time+ job-- and everyone deserves a little vacation from being a Mommy/Daddy sometimes!

Potty Training...

Potty training has been a HUGE success!! We are able to wear "big boy panties" (Teagans words) during the day and have had ZERO accidents in the past week! He even has gotten over his fear of sitting on "big potties" in public places!!!!

Headaches, Laughs, and OH MYS

Recently I've started to realize that I think, say, and talk about things that 5 years ago I never would have thought would be part of my every day life... so here is my list of things that only a mom would understand....

You Know You Are A Mom When:

*you put your kids to bed and look at the toys all over the living room and think, "No point in putting those away tonight." because you know in less then 14 hours they'll be back all over the floor.

* you no longer run to pick food that is dropped because your toddler will take care of it-- or the dog.

*you can read certain books with out even having to take your eyes off of whatever else you are trying to do.

*words such as the, and, or, of,-- are not needed for you to understand the message.

* you have said this, "Please stop climbing the bookcase" or any type of furniture.

* Your idea of bargaining includes naps...

*You have figured out how to get through any given location WITH OUT seeing the toys.

*You see no issue with eating food that may or may not have been in your kid's mouth already.

*whats your husbands is your husbands, whats your kids is your kids, but what is yours is EVERYONES.

*when you haven't eaten a meal that you haven't had to share in months.

*when you take 3-5 minutes longer in the bathroom then really needed because its one of the few places you can be alone.

* when you wait to "need" something till your husband is home so you can get out of the house alone.

* when talking about poo no longer grosses you out.

*when you can sing TV theme songs on command. (Sunnnnnnny days sweeeepin the clouds awayyyy)

*when you know the names of the trains, dinos, etc

*when someone says, "What do you want for your birthday/Christmas etc" and the first thing that comes to your mind is something for your kids.

*when you have a day off and you want to go somewhere that has even more kids at it...

Who wants to add theirs???

Mommy WOW! I'm A Big Kid Now!

As if the title isn't enough of a clue..... IT'S POTTY TIME IN THE ALLEN HOUSE!!! That's right-- we are potty training Teagan! It's going slow and fast all at the same time.... He's starting to catch on and all that I really care about is that we are making forward motion with it....

He has Thomas The Tank Engine underwear which he insists on keeping as clean as possible and PullUps with the "learning design" which means if he wets them-- the design goes away-- he LOVES checking and see he has kept it dry enough for the design to still be there!

Soooo MOMMY WOW-- HES becoming A BIG KID NOW!

DADDY DADDY DADDY

Teagan is a great sleeper-- a REALLY great sleeper. We don't very often get a middle of the night wake up call- but tonight/this morning we did.

Teagan woke up SCREAMING, "DADDY DADDY I NEED YOU DADDY" And of course Daddy got up and went in to check on him-- All was okay and he just needed a quick snuggle and then went right back to sleep.

Now I know this sounds silly, but there was this horrid sad feeling in the bottom of my stomach-- I wanted him to call ME... I know its silly so I didn't give in to it-- I'm glad he wants his Daddy some of the time-- Mommy needs a break- but I do love cuddles from my boy!

2011 Blizzard??

So we were supposed to get a "blizzard" of "historical" and "epic" proportions... I wouldn't say we got epic or historical weather but I could be crazy-- because I enjoyed this weather from the warmth of my home-- not even venturing outside to just look at it-- I peered out the window said, "yup white stuff" and went back to my warm couch/bed/living room.

Soooo Blizzard 2011 was a success in my eyes!
